Overview

This 11-day Thailand adventure takes you from the vibrant streets of Bangkok to the serene jungles of Khao Sok. You’ll begin in Bangkok with a city tour, exploring its historic old town, street art, and delicious street food. After traveling to Chiang Mai, you’ll spend three days at an Elephant Camp, connecting with elephants, exploring nature, and visiting local hilltribes. After returning to Chiang Mai, you’ll experience a Thai cooking class before flying to Surat Thani and heading into the jungle at Khao Sok. Here, you'll stay in unique treehouses or bungalows, enjoying guided tours and swimming in crystal-clear waters. Finally, you’ll return to Bangkok for your departure, taking with you unforgettable memories from the diverse landscapes and rich culture of Thailand.

Itinerary

DAY 01 : WELCOME TO BANGKOK

Arrive in Bangkok and make your way to your hotel, where your guide will warmly greet you. After a quick brieﬁng on your exciting trip ahead, you'll enjoy a delicious welcome dinner and experience the vibrant nightlife of this bustling city.

Accommodation: Khaosan Art Hotel with standard twin OR Luk Hostel / Dormitory with bunk beds

DAY 02 : DISCOVER THE HEART OF BANGKOK

Embark on a walking tour through Bangkok's historic old town. Explore hidden gems, vibrant street art, and tantalizing street food, all while learning about the city's rich culture and history from your expert guide. This is the perfect way to see the authentic side of Bangkok.

Accommodation: Khaosan Art Hotel with standard twin OR Luk Hostel / Dormitory with bunk beds

DAY 03 : JOURNEY TO CHIANG MAI

Catch a morning bus to Chiang Mai, where you'll spend approximately 8 hours journeying through the scenic landscapes of Thailand. Relax and enjoy the views as you make your way to this charming city.

Accommodation: Na Tha Phae Hotel/ Standard Twin Room

Includes: Transportation to the bus station, Bus tickets, Transportation to accommodation

DAY 04 - 6 : ELEPHANT CAMP ADVENTURE

Embark on a magical 3-day, 2-night adventure at the Elephant Camp. Immerse yourself in nature and get up close to these majestic creatures. Experience unforgettable moments feeding and bathing the elephants, taking a bamboo rafting trip, and visiting the Karen Hilltribe. End your days by unwinding near a stunning waterfall.

DAY 06: BACK TO CHIANG MAI

Bid farewell to the elephants and the peaceful nature surroundings as you return to Chiang Mai. After settling into your hotel, spend the afternoon at your leisure. You can explore the famous Night Market, indulge in street food, or treat yourself to a relaxing Thai massage.

DAY 07: THAI COOKING CLASS EXPERIENCE

Delight in a hands-on Thai cooking class where you'll learn the secrets of traditional Thai dishes using fresh herbs and ingredients. Enjoy the fruits of your labor with a delicious lunch, and savor the ﬂavors of your creations!

DAY 08 : FLIGHT TO BANGKOK - OVERNIGHT TRAIN TO SURAT THANI AND JOURNEY TO THE JUNGLE

Start your day with a ﬂight to Bangkok, followed by a train ride to Surat Thani, and then transfer to Khao Sok. Upon arrival, settle into your unique jungle bungalow or treehouse, surrounded by the beauty of nature.

DAY 9-10: A JUNGLE EXPERIENCE IN KHAO SOK
Stay at Khao Sok for 3 days and 2 nights, where you’ll immerse yourself in the stunning wilderness of Khao Sok. Experience the serenity of the jungle, explore the area with a guided tour, and enjoy swimming in the crystal-clear waters.

DAY 11: FAREWELL TO THAILAND
After an unforgettable adventure, return to the resort to prepare for your departure. Say goodbye to your jungle paradise and head to Surat Thani Airport, ﬂy to Bangkok and travel back to your country on the same day. Cherishing the memories of your extraordinary journey through Thailand.

Project Requirement

Volunteers must be 18 years or older at the time of joining the project. Participants should have an open mind and flexible attitude for working in a new and different environment. Volunteers need to be flexible, open-minded and have a passion for working with elephants and outdoors. You should also be proactive, have the ability to take initiative and willing to work outdoors. Participants should have no criminal convictions and should provide a clean criminal background check report. A parental consent form shall be required for Under 18 participants joining the program. Families are welcome to join the trip as well. Under 18 participants should be accompanied by an adult accompanying member to join the trip.

Living

Airport Pickup

Participants are picked up from the Suvarnabhumi Airport in Bangkok by a local team member on the program start date. Please note that airport pickup is only provided between 6am – 8 pm at night. Those participants who are already in Bangkok will need to make their own way to the hotel/guest house accommodation details of which shall be provided.

Accommodation

While in Bangkok, participants are provided accommodation at a trendy, budget-friendly accommodation located in the heart of Bangkok, known for its vibrant atmosphere and artistic design. The accommodation is situated near the famous Khaosan Road, a bustling area filled with shops, restaurants, and lively nightlife. The hotel offers comfortable rooms with modern amenities, including air conditioning, free Wi-Fi, and private or shared bathrooms depending on the room type. Guests can enjoy a relaxed and artistic vibe with unique decor, making it a popular choice for travelers looking for a creative, yet affordable place to stay. The hotel also provides easy access to major attractions like the Grand Palace, Wat Pho, and the Chao Phraya River.

Accommodation in Chiang Mai is a charming and well-located hotel, situated near the famous Tha Phae Gate, one of the city’s main historical landmarks. The hotel offers a comfortable, budget-friendly stay with modern amenities, including air-conditioned rooms, free Wi-Fi, and private bathrooms. Its prime location makes it a great base for exploring the vibrant Old City, local markets, temples, and cultural attractions. Guests can enjoy a relaxing atmosphere with friendly staff, and the hotel provides easy access to nearby restaurants, shops, and nightlife. Na Tha Phae Hotel is ideal for travelers looking for convenience and comfort in the heart of Chiang Mai.

While working in the elephant camp, accommodation is provided in the project itself. Accommodation in the camp is very basic with dorm style rooms with no fan or air conditioning. Mosquite nets are provided at the camp.

Accommodation in Khao Sok is in Tree House or Bungalow.Accommodations like tree houses and bungalows offer a unique and immersive experience in the heart of nature.

FAQ's

Application and Program Details

When do I need to arrive in Thailand for my program? What will happen once I arrive there?: You need to arrive in Thailand at the given program date. More details shall be provided in your booking confirmation document. Pickup is provided from the designated pickup airport only at given scheduled airport pickup times. After you are picked up from the airport you will be transferred to your accommodation.
Would I have free time during my program?: Yes, you will have free time during your program.During the freetime you can just have rest or explore the location on your own as well. You can ask for assistance from your guide/coordinator for arranging any trips for free time.
When should I apply for the programs in Thailand ?: VolSol recommends that all interested international volunteers should apply well in advance.

As we have limited spots available in our programs and we serve on first come first basis, it is strongly recommended to apply for the program and reserve your spot. You can book your spot in the program by filling an online form and pay the application fee.

Once you complete your application, your individual 'My Account' will be active in which you will receive your placement confirmation after which you can pay the program fees.

You can pay the program fees later as well in installments, but 45 days before the program starts.
Does VolSol provides with a reference or a certificate after program completion?: Yes, we will provide you with the Certificate after successful completion of your program. The certificate is provided on request.
Are there any necessary requirements to participate in the Thailand programs ?: Please refer to the individual requirements for the particular program you wish to join. Requirements vary for every program depending on different factors.
Can I volunteer as part of a group?: We encourage our participants to volunteer in a group. We take special care in providing you a placement and also customize your itinerary to make sure you get exactly what you are looking for. Also, we can design special group programs for groups of 5 or more. Our programs are designed to be safe, affordable and offer a great group volunteering experience to the volunteers.

In our experience of more than 15 years, we have facilitated volunteer programs for college groups, university groups, high school groups, group of families, group of couples as well as groups of colleagues.

How safe is Thailand ?: Your safety is of prime importance to us. We provide our volunteers with 24x7 in-country support. Our in-country team ensures a smooth, safe, and comfortable trip for our participants.As in any destination, all participants are advised to follow general safety precautions for their safety and well being. Thailand is a very popular tourist destination and millions of people travel to the country from around the world every year.
What immunizations/vaccinations will I need?: We recommend you to consult your doctor but the general recommended vaccinations are Covid 19, Hepatitis A, Hepatitis B and Typhoid.

Accommodation and Living

Can I know more about accommodation and food arrangements?: All accommodations are provided in twin/triple sharing basis in guesthouse, resorts or hotels.Meals are provided strictly as per the itinerary.Thai cuisine is amazing and one of the most popular cuisines of the world.
Can vegetarians be accommodated?: Yes – please do ensure that you inform the local team about your food preference and dietary requirements. Also, please do mention your specific food preference in the application form as well.

Does Volunteering Solutions help with Visa?: Yes, we can provide you with the necessary support and assistance for the documents for the visa. However, applying for the visa is the responsibility of every participant and you need to do it on your own and Volunteering Solutions does not provide any assistance in submitting the application. We can only provide assistance on suggesting the suitable visa for you and provide the required letters for support.
