Overview

Tianyar is a small but beautiful village in the north-eastern part of Bali, located on the shores of Bali Sea. Far away from the chaos of urban development, the little ones attend Kindergartens with inadequate staff members. The average age of the kids attending these schools is between 3 to 5 years, and at this tender age, all they need is your special attention.

As a volunteer, you'll play a vital role in engaging with the children, keeping them entertained and joyful while boosting their confidence. This deeply rewarding experience will immerse you in the local Balinese culture, allowing you to interact with locals and learn about their traditions and way of life.

Working alongside local staff and fellow volunteers, you'll help provide basic education, play numerous games, and promote a positive lifestyle for children aged 3 to 6 years old. You’ll leave with the satisfaction of knowing you’ve made a significant impact on the lives of the children you’ve connected with each day

The kids belong to the underprivileged sections of the society and their parents aren't always able to provide them with the love and care that they deserve at this tender age. As a volunteer, you'll have to provide them with adequate warmth and care, and also assist the caregivers and teachers in their daily chores.

Most kindergartens and daycare centers in Bali charge for their services, making it difficult for families in Tianyar to afford quality early education for their children. This lack of access not only hampers the children's early education but also forces parents to stay home instead of working.

Recognizing the importance of early education and learning a foreign language, our local team established a community kindergarten that provides free childcare to the village and surrounding areas. By supporting the local staff, you will help ensure the children receive the attention and care they need. Additionally, your presence will help improve their social skills and conversational English, setting them up for a brighter future.

You don't need any special training to be a volunteer for the Kindergarten Project in Bali - all you need is patience and perseverance to deal with the naughty yet adorable kids. Being with them will make you feel happier and they'll surely fill your life with laughter and unconditional love. Students, gap year travelers and backpackers who want to make some effective contribution in the lives of children in Bali while exploring the land, can be a part of this meaningful project with Volunteering Solutions and make a difference.

Volunteer Roles & Responsibilities

Volunteer Roles & Responsibilities

The primary responsibility of a volunteer will be to engage actively with the children, providing encouragement and care to every visitor each day. You'll play a vital role in ensuring their happiness and entertainment by sharing your time, enthusiasm, and skills alongside the local kindergarten staff.

Through creative and energetic interactions, you’ll impart basic education that will help boost the children’s confidence and skills. In this more relaxed setting compared to traditional schools, playful interactions can significantly enhance their language abilities. Teaching them key words and phrases during your time in Bali will set them on a positive learning journey.

Volunteers also  participate in a variety of activities such as arts and crafts, singing, dancing, and sports, while assisting local staff with daily tasks. Volunteers who dedicate some time daily for planning and creating engaging lessons often have the most satisfying experience in the program.

Each day, you’ll have plenty of opportunities to spend an hour or two on crafting activities that enrich the children’s enjoyment and learning at the kindergarten. Their infectious enthusiasm for learning and building connections with you is sure to brighten your days.
