Amritsar is one of the most important cities in Indian state of Punjab. Amritsar is world famous for the Golden Temple, one of the most important Sikh pilgrim centers in the world. Not only Sikhs, but millions of people of all religions visit this holy site from across the world. Amritsar was also one of the active regions in the freedom struggle of India. Here in Amritsar at Jallianwala Bagh, a massacre took place on 19th April 1919 in which British soldiers killed hundreds of people in an open fire. This program would give you the glimpse of the Punjabi culture and give you a nice weekend break.

As you arrive at Amritsar station at 1.45 pm, our representative would meet you and take you to the booked hotel. You can have lunch at the hotel (at own cost) and relax for some time. The hotel is very centrally located and walking distance from the main attractions such as Golden Temple, Jallianwala Bagh and Partition Museum.In the evening you can come out of the hotel and walk down to the heritage area where Golden Temple is located to get a night view of the temple.Make sure not to wear any shorts and cover your head while entering the temple.The hotel is only 15-20 minute walk from the Golden Temple.
After breakfast at the hotel accommodation, you can walk down and explore the markets nearby which are good for shopping. You can also walk down to Partition Museum.
The Partition Museum is housed at the historic Town Hall building in Amritsar, a 5 - 7 minute walk from the Golden Temple. With its arched verandahs, doors with venetian glass, beautiful floor tiles, and the historic belfry (the bell was cast in 1897), the Town Hall is an apt home for the Partition Museum. It is located in the newly renovated Heritage Plaza.
The museum opens at 10am in the morning and entry fee for foreign visitors is Rs 250/-
After visiting the museum, you can walk down the heritage plaza to Jallianwala Bagh. It is only 7-8 minute walk from there.
Jallianwala Bagh is a historic garden and memorial of national importance close to the Golden Temple complex in Amritsar, Punjab, India, preserved in the memory of those wounded and killed in the Jallianwala Bagh Massacre that took place on the site on the festival of Baisakhi, 13 April 1919. The 7-acre site houses a museum, gallery and several memorial structures.You can then again walk back to Golden Temple to get a daytime view as well.You can return back to the hotel in time for your return drop back to the train station. Pickup from railway station at night in Delhi and transfer to accommodation in Delhi for the night.
