CSR trips that mean more than a team-building day

Volunteering Solutions designs corporate volunteering trips abroad for companies that want their CSR commitment to produce something real: a week of hands-on work that a community actually asked for, planned end to end by one accountable partner. Since 2007 we have hosted more than 25,000 volunteers across 23 countries, and corporate teams have worked with us on childcare and teaching support, care for people with disabilities and community development projects.

Whether you are a startup sending its first team of eight or a multinational planning an annual CSR programme, the format is the same: tell us your dates, group size and goals, and our groups team designs the project, itinerary and logistics around them. Your people show up and do meaningful work; we handle everything else.

Why companies choose Volunteering Solutions

Corporate travel comes with duty-of-care obligations that a DIY volunteering trip cannot meet. We are a certified B Corp with 19 years of experience, and every group trip includes risk assessments, safeguarding policies, financial protection and 24/7 in-country support as standard. Our in-country teams in every destination have hosted volunteer groups for years — they run your orientation, supervise the project work and stay on call around the clock.

Just as importantly, the projects themselves are long-running local partnerships, not photo opportunities created for visitors. Your team joins work that continues after they fly home, which is exactly the difference employees notice — and the reason corporate volunteering builds more genuine engagement than another conference room away-day.

One partner also means one contract, one invoice and one point of contact from first enquiry to the flight home — no juggling separate providers for accommodation, transport, projects and support.

Ways your company can volunteer abroad

CSR impact days. Already planning an offsite or retreat abroad? We can add one or two structured volunteering days to it — a beach clean-up, a school renovation day, an afternoon programme at a community centre — with all logistics folded into your existing trip.

One-week team trips. Our most popular corporate format. The team flies out together, spends five days on a single project with a shared goal, and returns with something concrete to show for it. A week is short enough for a busy calendar and long enough to make a visible difference.

Skills-based volunteering. Teams with relevant expertise can put it to work: business and employability mentoring on women’s empowerment programs, English conversation practice on teaching projects, or trade skills on construction and renovation sites.

Annual CSR partnerships. Companies that want volunteering embedded in their culture send a team every year — often to the same project, so each cohort builds on the last one’s work. We handle the planning cycle so it renews itself with minimal admin on your side.

Projects that work well for corporate teams

Some projects suit visiting teams of colleagues especially well — work that absorbs many hands at once, shows visible progress within a week, and needs no prior experience:

Construction and renovation — repainting classrooms, repairing community buildings and improving school facilities alongside local tradespeople. Environmental work — beach clean-ups, mangrove and tree planting, and marine conservation projects on the coasts of Sri Lanka, Bali and beyond. Teaching support — conversation practice, activity sessions and sports days at partner schools. Community development — supporting community centres, food programmes and local initiatives that benefit a whole neighbourhood. Wildlife projects — habitat work and daily care tasks at wildlife conservation sanctuaries.

Popular destinations for corporate volunteering trips

Corporate teams can volunteer in any of our 23 destinations. These are the ones companies pick most often:

Portugal and Spain — short-haul from anywhere in Europe, ideal for impact days attached to an offsite. Morocco — under four hours from most European capitals with a genuine change of scene. Bali and Thailand — well-connected hubs with strong project variety and easy weekend excursions. Sri Lanka — beach clean-ups, turtle conservation and teaching projects close together on the south coast. Kenya and South Africa — high-impact community and conservation work with a safari weekend built in. India — our longest-running destination, with two decades of project relationships in Delhi, Palampur and beyond.

What a corporate volunteering week looks like

Day 1 — arrival. Airport pickup, check-in to your group accommodation and a welcome briefing from your in-country coordinator: the project, the neighbourhood, safety and the plan for the week.

Days 2–6 — project work. Structured working days, typically morning-to-early-afternoon, with a shared goal the team can finish in a week — a renovated classroom, a completed clean-up, a programme of lessons delivered. Evenings are free for the team to explore together.

Day 7 — departure or extension. Fly home, or extend the trip with a weekend excursion — a safari in Kenya, temples in Thailand, the south-coast beaches in Sri Lanka. Many teams treat the final weekend as their reward.

Every itinerary is tailored — longer trips, split cohorts and multi-project weeks are all possible. Tell us what your team needs and we will build the schedule around it.

Safety, logistics and duty of care

Employers need more reassurance than a typical traveller, and the trip is structured accordingly. Before you commit, you receive a full proposal covering the project, accommodation, transport and risk assessment. On the ground, your group stays in vetted accommodation with meals included, moves between airport, house and project by arranged transport, and has a named coordinator from our in-country team on call 24/7.

We operate under safeguarding and child protection policies on every project involving minors, and your payment is financially protected — if we ever had to cancel your program, you would receive a full refund. Volunteering Solutions is a UK-registered company and a certified B Corp, so we are held to account for both.

How much does a corporate volunteering trip cost?

Corporate trips are quoted per group, because destination, group size, duration and accommodation standard all move the number. As a benchmark, our individual one-week placements start from US$285 per person; a corporate group quote adds tailoring and dedicated coordination, and covers accommodation, meals, airport transfers, project logistics and 24/7 in-country support in one figure — so the price you see is genuinely close to the price you pay.

Most companies find a volunteering week costs no more than a conventional offsite once hotels, venues and catering are totalled — it simply produces more. Request a proposal below and we will price your exact group with no obligation.

Corporate volunteering FAQs

What group size can you host?

Corporate groups typically run from 8 to 40+ people. Larger teams can be split across nearby projects and reunited for evenings and excursions, so no one is left without meaningful work.

How long does a corporate volunteering trip last?

Anything from a single impact day added to an existing offsite, up to two weeks. The most popular format is a one-week trip: five project days plus travel, which fits a working calendar and still completes a visible goal.

Can the trip be matched to our CSR or ESG goals?

Yes. Tell us the causes your company prioritises — education, environment, community, conservation — and we will propose projects aligned with them, along with a summary of the work your team completed for your internal reporting.

Do employees need any experience?

No. Every project provides an orientation and on-site supervision, and tasks are matched to what the group can genuinely contribute. Teams with professional skills to offer can be placed where those skills add the most.

Where can corporate teams volunteer?

In any of our 23 destinations across Asia, Africa, Europe and Latin America. European companies often pick Portugal, Spain or Morocco for short flights; teams wanting a bigger journey choose Kenya, Sri Lanka, Thailand or Peru.

What is included in the price?

Accommodation, meals, airport pickup and transfers, project logistics, orientation and round-the-clock support from our in-country team. Flights and travel insurance are arranged by your company, and we can advise on both.

How far in advance should we book?

Three to six months gives the best choice of dates and projects, and time to plan around your team’s calendar. Shorter lead times are often possible — ask, and we will tell you honestly what can be done well in the time available.

Is our payment protected?

Yes. Your payment is financially protected, and if we ever had to cancel your program you would receive a full refund — confirmed in writing before you book.
