Medische en verpleegkundige stage in India Delhi

Overview

De medische stage in India zal een zeer waardevolle ervaring zijn voor internationale studenten die geneeskunde en verpleegkunde studeren, omdat ze waardevolle internationale ervaring opdoen. Tijdens onze gespecialiseerde medische stage krijgen studenten inzicht in nieuwe technieken en kunnen ze zich duidelijk onderscheiden van hun collega's. De medische stageopdracht vindt plaats in een groot ziekenhuis in Delhi, in de buurt van enkele van de beste gebieden en markten in de stad.

Stagiaires worden gekoppeld aan een arts/verpleegkundige of medisch professional tijdens hun tijd in het ziekenhuis. De stage is gebaseerd op observatie en elke stagiair zal schaduwen, observeren en basishulpwerk doen in het ziekenhuis tijdens de periode van de stage/observatie. Stagiaires werken op een full-service ziekenhuisplaatsing die zeer goede faciliteiten en infrastructuur biedt voor patiëntenzorg en -behandeling. Het observatieprogramma helpt de studenten om vaardigheden en kennis te ontwikkelen door het werk van het medische en verpleegkundige team te observeren.

Klinische rotatie Chirurgische specialismen	Wordt 15 dagen lang afwisselend ingezet op de afdelingen Anesthesie, Orthopedie, KNO en Oftalmologie

Naast de bovenstaande studenten lopen ook mee/observeren op de Spoedeisende Hulp. Pre-medische studenten worden voornamelijk toegewezen aan de Spoedeisende Hulp of Interne Geneeskunde.

De deelnemers moeten een voorkeur aangeven voor 3-4 afdelingen waarin ze willen werken. Afhankelijk van hun stageperiode kunnen de stagiairs op rotatiebasis werken.

Schema van het medische stageprogramma

Geneeskundestudenten die meedoen aan het medische stageprogramma in India, moeten dagelijks een basisroutine volgen. Het moet worden opgemerkt dat elke stage op een ander tempo en op aparte tijdlijnen functioneert, waardoor het schema soms enigszins verschilt. Een algemeen dagschema voor stagiairs is als volgt;

Zondag: Aankomst in Delhi
Maandag: Oriëntatie + kennismakingstour door de buurt. De oriëntatiesessie wordt geleid door de lokale coördinator en behandelt onderwerpen als veiligheid, cultuur, taal, plekken om te bezoeken, gedrag, eten en andere suggesties voor dingen om te doen in Delhi. Degenen die voor de taal- en oriëntatieweek hebben gekozen, gaan hiermee door tot het einde, de rest van de stagiaires begint dinsdag met hun werk.

- Ontbijt - vanaf 9.00 uur of kan in het ziekenhuis worden genuttigd als u een vroege dienst heeft
- Werktijden op de stageplaats - 10:00 uur tot 16:00 uur
- Lunch - ergens tussen 12:30 en 14:30 uur (stagiaires moeten zelf voor de lunch zorgen)
- Diner - vanaf 19:00 uur

Afhankelijk van het werkschema van de gekoppelde arts en het gebied van het ziekenhuis waar een stagiair wordt geplaatst, kunnen de tijden en dagen van het werk fluctueren. Uw geduld en flexibiliteit met deze schema's en tijdsverschuivingen worden zeer op prijs gesteld. Hetzelfde werkschema gaat door vanaf de tweede week.

Weekenden: Vrij om de stad te verkennen (op zondag worden er geen maaltijden geserveerd, omdat we onze stagiaires aanmoedigen om de lokale keuken te proberen.)

Let op: Houd er rekening mee dat het schema kan variëren, afhankelijk van het specifieke project waaraan de stagiair meewerkt.

Vrijwilligerswerk onder het medisch stageprogramma in India, Delhi

Ziekenhuizen kunnen ethisch gezien geen personen zonder de juiste ervaring, opleiding en certificeringen toestaan om actief deel te nemen aan medische procedures die ze niet kunnen uitvoeren. De meeste stagiaires observeren of helpen alleen bij zeer kleine taken. De taken die aan de stagiaires worden toegewezen, worden strikt op basis van hun opleidingsniveau en ervaring uitgevoerd.

Deze opdracht tijdens je medische stage in Delhi is voornamelijk gebaseerd op observatie. Je volgt je arts of verpleegkundige op dagelijkse rondes terwijl ze patiënten raadplegen, behandelingen uitvoeren en operaties uitvoeren.

Echter, zelfs die stagiairs die weinig (of geen) achtergrond hebben in de gezondheidszorg, hebben nog steeds veel meer toegang tot de gang van zaken in een internationaal ziekenhuis dan ze in het Westen zouden hebben. Project Requirement

Stagiaires moeten 18 jaar of ouder zijn op het moment dat ze aan de stage beginnen. Als stagiair moet je een open geest en flexibele houding hebben om in een nieuwe en andere omgeving te werken. Medische stagiairs moeten een schoon strafblad, CV, paspoortkopie en andere documenten en referenties met betrekking tot hun kwalificaties overleggen voordat ze aan het programma deelnemen. Pre Med, Medical, Nursing studenten en CNA's kunnen aan het programma deelnemen. Alle studenten moeten zich houden aan professionele kleding tijdens hun verblijf in de ziekenhuizen.

Luchthaventransfer

Bij aankomst op de Indira Gandhi International Airport worden vrijwilligers begroet door een lid van het lokale coördinatieteam in Delhi. Geplande ophaalservices zijn beschikbaar tussen 8.00 en 20.00 uur op de startdatum van het programma. Deelnemers die al in het land zijn of vroeg aankomen, kunnen ook worden opgehaald bij een vooraf bepaald ontmoetingspunt. Als u buiten de geplande ophaaltijden aankomt, kunnen we tegen extra kosten een ophaalservice regelen.

Accommodaties

Deelnemers in Delhi krijgen accommodatie in een gunstig gelegen hostel in Zuid-Delhi. Het hostel ligt op slechts vijf minuten lopen van een metrostation in Zuid-Delhi en biedt gemakkelijke toegang tot iconische bezienswaardigheden zoals de Lotustempel en de Khan-markt.

Het hostel heeft ruime slaapzalen en privékamers die perfect zijn voor een gezellig verblijf. Of u nu ontspant in onze gezellige gemeenschappelijke ruimte of geniet van een stevige maaltijd in ons eigen café, elk aspect van uw verblijf is ontworpen voor comfort en gemak. Daarnaast heeft het hostel een open buitenruimte, die ideaal is om contact te maken met medereizigers.

Alle kamers in het hostel zijn voorzien van airconditioning. Hoewel beddengoed wordt verstrekt, moet u uw eigen handdoeken en toiletartikelen meenemen.

Upgrades naar eenpersoonskamers of tweepersoonskamers zijn beschikbaar tegen een toeslag.

Oriëntatie

Een uitgebreide oriëntatiesessie van een halve dag wordt de dag na uw aankomst door ons personeel uitgevoerd. De oriëntatie omvat essentiële onderwerpen zoals cultuur, begroetingen, locaties, vervoer en andere details die in uw reisschema staan.

Maaltijden

Wereldwijd bekend om zijn diverse smaken, staat de Indiase keuken centraal tijdens uw vrijwilligerservaring. Indiase vegetarische maaltijden worden in het hostel zelf geserveerd.

Vrijetijdsactiviteiten

In hun vrije tijd worden vrijwilligers aangemoedigd om lokale markten en erfgoedmonumenten te verkennen en te dineren in verschillende restaurants in Delhi om te genieten van de rijke verscheidenheid aan Indiase gerechten. Delhi heeft veel te bieden en er zijn genoeg dingen te doen en te zien in de bruisende hoofdstad.

Application and Program Details

Are there any necessary requirements to participate in the Delhi volunteer programs?: Below are the necessary requirements to participate in the India volunteer projects:

Volunteers must be 17 years or older at the time of joining the project. Medical Program volunteers must be at least 18 at the time of joining.

16-year-old volunteers can participate in Childcare projects with a Letter of Consent from their parents.

Volunteers need to have an open mind and flexible attitude for working in a new and different environment.

Participants must be in good health.

India is a country of different cultures and traditions, though it is modernized, the cultural sensitivities need to be kept in mind before volunteering in India. The volunteers should bring energy and enthusiasm to make a difference.
For how many hours will I volunteer every day?: Depending on the project, elected volunteers will work during the week from Monday- Friday. You will have the weekend off so you can travel on weekends. However, volunteers need to be flexible, open minded and understand that work requirements can change as well on certain occasions.
Can I volunteer as part of a group?: Yes, you are welcome to take part in any of the India Volunteer Programs as part of a group. We welcome families, friends, high school students, college/university and corporate groups to volunteer together in the Indian programs.

Volunteering Solutions India program has hosted large student groups as well as families coming to volunteer in the program. We have hosted groups from universities in UK, Europe, and USA as well as other countries, in Delhi.
What if I do not speak the local language? Would that interfere with my volunteering experience?: Do not worry, all the coordinators can speak and converse in English. Most of our participants are non-Hindi speakers and they’ve never had any problems while communicating. Like we say, love is expressed better through actions than the language.

To add to the project experience, you can also join the Language and Orientation Week in Delhi before beginning the program. It's an optional week, besides that we recommend participants to brush up their Hindi skills (learn basic terms and phrases, greetings) before traveling.
When should I apply for the volunteer programs in Delhi?: Delhi is one of the most popular volunteering destinations, and it is advised to apply for the projects once the volunteering/ traveling dates are decided as there are limited spots available. The application fee is valid for one full year and can be sent earlier than the desired year of volunteering for timely confirmation of the seat. As soon as you decide the travel dates, we suggest you to apply for the program and hold your spot. Every program has limited spots available.
I haven’t traveled or volunteered abroad before. Can I still be a part of VolSol?: Yes, most definitely you can as we believe every participant brings something new to the project. How long will it take to process my application? Will my application be accepted ?: Usually, it takes around 10-12 working days for the application to be processed and placement to be confirmed. After we review your CV and documents, your booking is confirmed and the booking confirmation is updated in your My Account and you can view the information in your account. The application acceptance depends on the availability of seats in the project as well as the eligibility criteria of the program (age, skills and experience etc.).
When do I need to arrive in Delhi for my program? What will happen once I arrive in Delhi?: All volunteers need to arrive in Delhi on the starting day of the program i.e Sunday. Participants are picked up from the Indira Gandhi International Airport in Delhi by the local coordinator or representative and are transferred to the volunteer accommodation.Orientation would be conducted the next day where you will also be shown the area around the accommodations, the nearest ATM, market, and will be given safety guidelines as well as information about your project.

Health and Safety

How safe is India and Delhi in particular?: India is a country of diverse cultures and practices. and Delhi being the capital city is home to varied ethnicities. Like in any new foreign country, participants are advised to follow the guidelines specified by the project coordinator to enjoy their Indian experience fully. The program coordinators are always ready to help and give helpful safety tips. During the first day of the orientation, you will be given safety guidelines and will be informed about the dos and dont's.
Do I need to buy health insurance?: Yes, for all participants, it is mandatory to have a valid travel medical insurance for their trip. Volunteers have the option to purchase Travel and Medical Insurance at a nominal extra cost from Volunteering Solutions. To provide the best option to our participants, we offer comprehensive insurance coverage in collaboration with a leading insurance provider.

What immunizations/vaccinations will I need?: All participants are recommended to consult their physician or travel doctor before traveling to India. Accommodation and Living

Can vegetarians be accommodated?: Yes, that is not a problem at all. In fact, volunteers are served vegetarian meals at the accommodations in India.
Would I have free time during my program? Can I do sightseeing during my program?: Volunteers work from Monday - Friday and have their weekends free for sightseeing. You can utilize this time to visit local markets of Old Delhi, Janpath or simply visit the Central Park (Garden) and Connaught Place. During the weekend, you have the option to take a short trip to Jaipur and Agra, and the Golden Triangle tour. Strategic placement of Delhi also allows you to take quick weekend trips to Palampur in Himachal Pradesh, Chandigarh as well as Amritsar, Punjab. There is a lot to do and explore, and the local Delhi office team would happily assist you in making travel plans and arrangements for short trips.
How do I get to the program location?: Your project coordinator will take you to your project placement and introduce you to everyone after giving you a basic orientation about the program/city/culture etc.

You will be told about the directions to the project from your accommodation as well as the best and the most affordable mode of transport you can use. Volunteers use a variety of modes of transport to commute to different locations in Delhi. Major modes of transport are Delhi Metro and auto rickshaw (tuk-tuk?).
Are there more expenses once I arrive in Delhi?: Your program fee does not cover your personal expenses. You will need to provide for yourself your personal expenses, such as bottled water, local transport, telephone, shopping, sightseeing etc. However, you should carry around $50-60 per week for your basic personal expenses. This amount can vary and you would need a higher amount if you go on different weekend trips out of town.
Can I know more about accommodation and food arrangements?: Volunteers are provided accommodation in a volunteer house or in a homestay (on request) accommodation managed by the local coordinating team. Two meals a day (Breakfast and Dinner) are provided to the volunteers from Monday - Saturday.

On Sunday, volunteers eat out and explore the different gastronomical delights that Delhi has to offer. Accommodation is shared amongst volunteers on the ‘same gender sharing’ basis rooms. Air conditioning facility is provided during the night in the volunteer home accommodations. Wifi internet is also available for volunteers’ convenience. Some volunteers are also provided accommodation in the project premises itself. For example - volunteers working in orphanage project can be provided accommodation in the project premises itself in a separate room that is allotted for volunteers. All meals will be provided to the volunteers in that case.
Where can I change my money in Delhi? Are there ATMs in Delhi?: On arrival at the IGI airport, you can change your foreign currency to Indian Rupees (INR) at the money exchange counters. India has a modern banking system and all the major credit and debit cards are accepted without any problems. ATMs are available in plenty and you will be shown the nearest ATM from the accommodation as well.
