The Jaipur Literary Fest is an annual affair and takes place every January. People from all over the world including well known Indian artists and authors attend the fest. A hustling fiesta with cultural shows in the evening, the fest compliments the chilly January weather of Jaipur perfectly.
“Choki Dhani” meaning a special village is bright and ethnic artificially created village that offers glimpses of local Rajasthani culture and lip-smacking food to gorge on. 20 KM from the city, this place is an absolute must when in Jaipur. Although this requires an extra day but can be quickly arranged. Pushkar is small Rajasthani sub-urban town known for its temples, deserts and camel fairs. Particularly recommended for visits during the winters.
Elephant Tourism is quite popular in Jaipur. Although it faces criticism at times, but it is helpful for the poor families of mahouts and also elephants as they get proper food and shelter in the camps. Volunteers get a special day at these camps to work for the wonderful and friendly animals along with the local families.
Relatively unknown, the Jaigarh fort in Jaipur is close to Maota Lake and Amer fort. A good place to click pictures, explore and have small picnic in. Can be visited after a thorough exploration of the Amer Fort.
