Volunteer In Bolivia FAQs

Q.What are the project locations in Bolivia?
Ans.Our volunteer programs are located in Santa Cruz .

Q.People from which country can join the Volunteering Solutions program ?
Ans.We welcome people from any part of the world to join our program regardless of which country he or she may belong too.

Q.What will happen once I arrive in Santa Cruz?
Ans.Our trained members of the staff would be there to receive you at the airport, holding placards, displaying your name. You’ll be picked up from the airport and taken by a car to your place of stay. Please do send us your arrival information well in advance so as to facilitate your airport pickup, if you are already traveling around and you would arrive by land, you must call the in country coordinator once you arrive and it would take her 15 minutes to get to you .
       
Q.How do I get to the program location ?
Ans.Your country coordinator will take you to your placement the first day and introduce you to everyone after giving you a basic orientation about the program/city/culture etc.

In subsequent days, you would need to commute between the placement and accomodation by public transportation.In some cases, the placement would be located at a walking distance from the place of stay.
       
Q.What kind of accommodation will be provided during my stay?
Ans.You’ll get very comfortable and clean accommodation provided in host family. You may sometimes share your room with another volunteer.
      
Q.What will be the food arrangement?
Ans.You will get freshly cooked food 3 times a day. Traditional Bolivian food will be provided to volunteers by their host families.
       
Q.Do you make provision for vegetarians?
Ans.Yes and if you are vegan this will not be a problem, Bolivian food normally contains of vegetables, rice, pasta and potatoes.
       
Q.What is the age range to volunteer?
Ans.You must be 17 years or older to volunteer. There is no upper age limit. You must be fit to travel and work. However if you would like to bring your family and you have children, you can volunteer at the Orphanage and supervise your children’s first volunteer experience.
       
Q.Can couples or families join the volunteer program?
Ans.Yes, couples and families are welcome to join our programs. You can also join the programs in groups along with friends or colleagues.

We also offer special discounts for group bookings.

Q.Which items should I bring along for my trip ?
Ans.You may bring personal medicines, a, t-shirts, short pants, long pants, a sweater or a light jacket, very light and comfortable clothes, since the climate in Santa Cruz is tropical. Please don’t forget to carry sun screen cream, mosquito repellent lotion or spray.
       
Q.Are there more expenses once I arrive in Santa Cruz?
Ans.Your program fee covers you for food and accommodation. You will need to cover yourself for your personal expenses, such as traveling, telephone, internet, shopping, sightseeing etc. Traveling within Bollivia is cheap; however, you should carry at least $150 per week for yourself.
       
Q.Are there ATM’s in Bolivia?
Ans.There are plenty of ATM's available in Santa Cruz. Most of the ATM"s accept Visa or Mastercard  

Q.Where do I obtain visa for my trip ?
Ans.Most of European citizens don’t need a visa to travel to Bolivia, they would get entry permission for 30 to 90 days depending on the origin country.   US citizens need a tourist visa and it can be obtained at the VVI airport upon arrival it would cost 135 USD. Most of Asian Citizens need a tourist visa and they need to request it at least one month before they travel to a Bolivian consulate. 
     
Q.What should I do incase of an emergency during my trip ?
Ans.You’ll be provided with a pre-departure manual after you’ve signed up with us for our program. It’ll have the entire phone no’s and addresses of our country co-ordinators whom you may contact in case of any emergency.
     
Q.Do I need any vaccinations before I leave for my trip ?
Ans.We recommend you to speak to your doctor before coming. A list of vaccinations would be provided in the Pre departure kit provided to volunteers before thier departure.

Q.Will I have access to e-mail, telephone etc ?
Ans.You’ll have easy access to e-mail, telephone etc. Public telephone booths & cyber cafes are located practically everywhere. You can choose to carry your mobile phone if you want better connectivity with people back home. You can also buy a local sim card at 3 to 5 USD.
     
Q.Will I have time for sight seeing & in-country travel ?
Ans.Everyday after the work is over you’ll have the evenings to yourself. There will be plenty of time to explore the city of your placement. You can utilize weekends for in-country travel.
